Day 1 of the 30 Day Shred

I've had the thirty day shred DVD (Jillian Michaels) for a while now - about a year. Today was one of the few times I took it out to workout. But that is all going to change now! I'm committed to at least getting through one 30-day Shred. I know it's tough but it's only 30 days, and I don't have much to do for the next 30 days so I can handle this. I'm already one day down so it's only 29 days now. Anyways, this workout is 20 minutes of strength, cardio, and abs, so I get a bit of everything. This is really important because I hate working out my arms and it makes me do that. Yey! So here's to one day being done. Now I'm also going to have to watch my diet. There's ice cream in the freezer tempting me, but I'm going to be strong. Anyways see you tomorrow with the news of how this is going.

July 6, 2011

Today I started exercising again. Today I did 31 minutes of Power Cardio (with Kendell Hogan hosting). It was a good cardio workout; I would recommend it.

My goals for the future:
5 days of 30 minutes of cardio
3 days of flexibility
2 days of strength

Anyways, I'm off to the lake now for some sun time!

March 18, 2011

My ribs are hurting right now. I don't know why, but they hurt in exactly the same place on each side. I'm guessing I leaned over a table and hurt myself (or something like that). Anyways, I'm trying to stay on track with my workouts. Today I wanted something slightly lower-impact and less cardio (even though I want the cardio!!) because my thighs and abs are still burning from the other day. So I chose to work with the New York City Ballet workout. I did exercise segments 1-11 which I estimate to be about a 30 minute workout. Then I did a 6 Pack AB Workout via my OnDemand. That was really low intensity, and a bit below my level of ability, but I still did it for 14 minutes. That's it.

Total workout today - 44 minutes

March 16, 2011

Yesterday I failed in my goal to workout every day so I could create a habit (21 days to create a habit!). But I got back into it today - albeit with a small workout. I feel bad too because I gave up (it was really hard and I'm sweating) but I did a bit so I feel okay. Next time I'll work harder. Anyways, today I worked out for 18 minutes to the Crunch ActionDiesel workout. The workout is only 24 minutes itself so I didn't skip too much, but I paused it twice. I also did 12 minutes of YogaWorks FitAbs. It was a pretty simple yoga workout but that's what I wanted. Tomorrow will be another 20 minutes of cardio (at least 20 minutes of cardio) and maybe some easy yoga.

Total Workout Today - 30 minutes

March 14, 2011

I was so inspired by my workout yesterday that I decided to workout again today. I used ExerciseTV on OnDemand again. That feature is really awesome! Today I did 22 minutes of Crunch Burlesque (it says it's cardio but it really isn't, lots of fun though), 7 minutes of Crunch Latin Rhythm (I didn't enjoy the moves as much as I thought I would, maybe I'll try another time), and 30 minutes of YogaWorks Slim Class (a combination of cardio, strength and flexiblity, but not the most intense). Overall I thought it was a good workout. Tomorrow I'm going to try to do cardio and maybe a bit of strength. My new goal is to work out for the next 19 days (since I worked out yesterday and today). That way I'll have worked out for 21 days in a row - I hear that's the first step to creating a habit. I'm hoping I can turn this into a habit.

Total workout today - 59 minutes

March 13, 2011

Today I discovered OnDemand's ExerciseTV section. So I worked out to two videos: 25 minutes of pilates and 14 minutes of yoga. As well, I took an hour bike ride (around 4 or 5 miles I think?). I feel pretty good about my working out today! And I highly recommend OnDemand to spice up the exercise life. I think I'll try another workout tomorrow!

So today's total is: 1 hour and 29 minutes

February 4, 2011

Once again, not much time...but I worked in 30 minutes of yoga today. I need to get some cardio in soon! I DID find a really cool feature of itunes...podcasts!! There are a LOT of free workout, yoga, etc podcasts. Also, hulu has a lot of short workout videos. If you want some variety these 20-30 minute workouts are really nice!

I didn't have much time today, but I managed 30 minutes of yoga / strength training via the Wii. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get some cardio in there!

January 31, 2011

The start of a journey starts with a single step...as did my exercise experience. Today I did 30 minutes of yoga. Sadly, I couldn't do half the positions due to lack of flexibility - the other half was because I can't do handstands. I'll get there one day.

Workout 1 - 1.31.11

I worked out today! 45 minutes at the gym on the treadmill. Go me! Now to eat an orange and head to bed.

So, knowing the route, we decided we wanted to "meet halfway." The halfway point is 1527.5 miles, which puts us in Barnesville, Minnesota. How will we do this?
Exercise, m'dear. Exercise.
Each time we exercise, we log the times/miles... for every 15 minute workout, this counts as one mile. If we run/walk... each mile is logged as is. So if I ran for three miles, and then worked out for 30 minutes, that would count as 5 miles.
Okay, so we have that established... now what?
Using the established route, we will track our progress and log which town we are in... making notes about the town such as a defining feature, cool tourist spots, pictures, etc. Whatever cool things we can find about it.... so it's a learning experience at the same time. It's like we actually went there.
So let us start our journey... see you halfway!
